Curriculum
Giovanni Capellini is Staff Scientist and Assistant Professor in Condensed Matter Physics at the "Roma Tre" University since 2005. In 1994 he obtained his M.Sc. from "La Sapienza" University (Roma, Ita) and in 1998 his Ph.D. in Physics from "Tor Vergata" University (Roma, Ita) . After two post-doctoral fellowships at "Roma Tre" University and at the National Institute for the Condensed Matter, he has been Visiting Associate Professor at the California Institute of Technology (Pasadena, Ca, USA) and senior scientist at Luxtera Inc., the world leader in silicon nano-photonics (Carlsbad, Ca, USA). in 2008-2011 he has been Senior Visiting Academic at the Atomic Fabrication Facility of the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia). He is now Guest Scientist at the Leibniz-Insitut Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics ,(Frankfurt Oder, Germany). He has recently been awarded the "2011 Leibniz-IHP International Fellowship". His main field of interest is the development of innovative materials for application in silicon-based nano-photonic and nano-electronic devices, with special focus on Germanium-Silicon structures. He coauthored more than ninety peer-reviewed articles and US and international patents.
